2026 Far East NDT (FENDT) New Technology Forum: First Preparatory Meeting Was Successfully Held in Nanchang

On October 12, 2025, the first meeting of the preparatory committee for the 2026 FENDT forum was successfully held at the Primus Hotel Nanchang International Expo City, Jiangxi province. More than 40 experts and scholars from universities, research institutions, industry associations, enterprises, and public institutions across the country gathered together to discuss the preparations for the 2026 FENDT forum.

Researcher Qiang Tianpeng, the honorary chairman of the FENDT forum, first reviewed the 20-year development of the FENDT forum and pointed out that its enduring prosperity stems from the continuous support and active participation of domestic and foreign NDT peers. He also expressed confidence in the hosting capacity of Nanchang Hangkong University to elevate the 2026 FENDT forum to new heights.

Prof. Lu Chao, the president of Nanchang Hangkong University and the chairman of the 2026 FENDT forum, introduced the development of the NDT discipline at Nanchang Hangkong University and the establishment of the intelligent NDT center of Taihang Laboratory. He emphasized that the FENDT forum is not only a platform for technical exchange but also a driving force for the innovative development of NDT technology. They have also established a special working team composed of key members from multiple core departments, providing comprehensive support from conference coordination and venue guarantee to academic assistance, striving to make it a high-level and distinctive NDT industry event.

Prof. Hu Bo from Nanchang Hangkong University presented detailed preparations to all the attending representatives, including the application and approval documents, hotel selection, venue and transportation, team organization, official approvals, and the planning of the Jiangxi parallel session.

Dr. Zheng Kai from the Special Equipment Safety Supervision Inspection Institute of Jiangsu Province, a member of the FENDT council and the secretary-general of the 2026 FENDT forum, reviewed the successful experience of the 2025 FENDT forum and highlighted the innovative approaches in distinctive sections such as academic salons, challenge competitions, and poster exchanges. To make up for the shortcomings of previous FENDT forums, he put forward several constructive suggestions for this forum, including advancing the submission time, improving the quality of conference papers, and expanding international influence.

Prof. Xu Chunguang from Beijing Institute of Technology, the chairman of the FENDT council and vice chairman of the 2026 FENDT forum, emphasized that each parallel session should be planned in advance and actively invite renowned experts at home and abroad to give academic reports, especially paying attention to the NDT demands in major national projects and the innovative achievements of related scientific research projects from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Military Science and Technology Commission.

Prof. Tian Guiyun from Chongqing University of Technology, a member of the FENDT council and vice chairman of the 2026 FENDT forum, pointed out that although the overall quality of conference papers has steadily improved in recent years, there is still considerable room for improvement. For example, it is necessary to strictly control aspects such as length, references, and English expression. Furthermore, participants are also encouraged to give priority to quoting previous FENDT papers to improve the academic influence of the forum.

After full discussions, several important arrangements for the 2026 FENDT forum were determined as follows:

Data: June 22 - 25, 2026 (Registration: June 22; Sessions: June 23-25).

Venue: Primus Hotel Nanchang International Expo City, Jiangxi province.

Theme: Advanced non-destructive testing promotes the development of the high-end manufacturing industry.

Parallel session: Retain the distinctive sections, such as academic salons and challenge competitions, and supplement a Jiangxi parallel session (including an alumni parallel session for the NDT major of Nanchang Hangkong University).

Global participation: Invite renowned scholars from the UK, Spain, Singapore, and other countries to give keynote speeches.

The representatives from the China Association of Special Equipment Inspection and the China Promotion Association for Special Equipment Safety and Energy-saving stated that they will fully support the 2026 FENDT forum, and actively organize their member units to attend and submit papers, and strengthen cooperation with the FENDT forum to jointly promote the development of NDT technology and industry in China.

The successful holding of this preparatory meeting has paved the way for the smooth running of the 2026 FENDT forum. All the experts attending the conference unanimously agreed that with the joint efforts of all parties, the 2026 FENDT forum will surely inject new impetus into the development of NDT technology and make new contributions to promoting the high-quality development of China’s manufacturing industry.
